Camera alerts only when away ?

i have just bought a ring alarm system and installed the first indoor camera. I don't need to be told about people movement unless I am away, in which case I will set the alarm accordingly. Can I suppress motion notifications but re-activate them when the alarm is on?

Not Receiving Motion Alerts

Each time I open my ring app, my motion alerts has turned itself off. It will only stay on for a few minutes and then turn itself off again. When I go into my settings to fix it, it will automatically turn itself back on but it is not staying on. I am assuming it's an app issue? The doorbell itself
