Battery Ring Pro - Hard Wired - expected power readings at the doorbell?
Hi All,
I have recently upgraded from a video doorbell 3 plus to a battery doorbell pro. All good, I wanted to have it hard wired and had an electrician to do it - all good.
My originial doorbell was mains wired so thought this should be straight forward However all not so good, a europa transformer was 8v 12v 24v was used (was not aware this was only an 8va output across all voltage setttings) obviously didn't work as was set on 8v and also still went through the doorbell chime. We took the doorbell chime out of the loop as it went through a pcb board. Now getting 24v at the doorbell. Still not charging, barely holding charge, maybe 1 or 2% over night - read 8hrs.
Getting annoyed at this point. So, did some digging and realised that the transformer needs an out put of between 10va and 40va regardless of voltage. Ok, so bought an ABB 24v, 15va 1.25amp one. So, if I understand correctly, puts out more grunt that the ring one does you can buy separately and the ones shipped with the hardwired doorbells.
Guess what, still not charging, during the day, it will drop say 5% then hold that over night, maybe an increase of 1-2%. This is the same on both doorbell units and different batteries.
So, its looking like the issue is the original doorbell wiring that we have reused. So I understand thing correctly, what readings, voltage, amps, watts etc. should I be getting at the doorbell if everything is working as it should?
Thanks.
