If you want to [hardwire](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/204252980-Charging-your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-battery-with-hardwiring) your Video Doorbell 4, it requires a transformer and doorbell wiring, and it will provide a trickle charge to help extend the time between charges. We have a step-by-step guide on installing a Doorbell 4 with an existing doorbell circuit [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360059528911-How-to-Physically-Install-Your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-4-With-an-Existing-Doorbell). A transformer with a voltage of 8-24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz is required. We also have the [Plug-In Adapter](https://ring.com/products/video-doorbell-plugin-adapter-gen-2) which can be used for continuous power. Since you do not have an existing doorbell circuit, this may be a better option for you.
