Just a quick one, probably been covered before but couldn’t find a conclusive answer for my application. I currently have a generic chime doorbell and replacing it with a pro 2 doorbell. Planning to use the din transformer that comes with the doorbell. My question is, can I just wire it straight to the doorbell from the transformer or do I need a resistor? Using the ring wireless chime also Thank you

Hi @JackOates96. The Video Doorbell Pro 2 should be connected to a standard low-voltage doorbell system (16-24 VAC, 50 or 60Hz, 10VA to 40VA max), and a resistor is not used in the installation. If you don't wish to use the existing chime kit in your home, you can bypass it. The Doorbell Pro 2 typically comes with the Pro Power Kit V3, which will not be installed if you are bypassing your chime kit. Instead, you would need to twist the two wires together that are connected to the house chime terminals (front or back door and trans) to complete the circuit to the transformer. This will bypass the chime kit so it does not ring.

Hi Caitlyn - Just so I have this right, I don’t need the resistor and don’t need the Pro Power Kit if I am hooking directly from my Ring 16V, 30VA transformer to my Video Doorbell Pro 2 without a chime unit - is that correct? Thanks in advance!
