Which Battery is which?

I've had a look here and see some conversation in 2022 about changing battery designation from left and right to 1 and 2.  And some promises about Ring fixing this.   I am a new user of camera pro and I can't work out which battery of the two is the one that needs to be recharged.  They are still designated 1 and 2 in my android app.

Obviously a solar panel should solve this problem to a degree but meantime, I only have so much money to spend so am building my system when I can.  Additionally I'd like to start using my solar panel with fully charged batteries, so either way I need to know which is which.

Help please.

Hi @user36236. For the Spotlight Cam Plus and Pro, the battery levels will be reported as Battery 1 and Battery 2 in the Ring app. The previous model, the Spotlight Cam Battery, uses the Left and Right naming convention.

Battery 1 should correspond to the left battery, while Battery 2 should correspond to the right battery when you are facing the back of the Spotlight Cam. I hope this information helps, and please let me know if you have any other questions.

There is an embossed numeral "1" on the same side as the cover's locking screw hole. "2" can be seen on the opposite corner.  See the number "1" at the upper right of this picture, just outside the mounting ring for the cover.  One more note: try to keep all contacts as clean as possible to ensure proper solar charging and operation.  It may not be a weak battery causing problems.
