I have identified what appears to be a reproducible WPA2/RSN interoperability issue between a recently purchased Ring Spotlight Cam Pro and TP-Link Omada EAP783 access points.
Ring device
• Ring Spotlight Cam Pro Battery with 2K Video / Ring Vision
• Amazon ASIN: B09DRX62ZV
• Purchased new in 2026
• Product packaging: copyright 2025 Ring LLC
• Connectivity listed on packaging: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
• This is the 2K Spotlight Cam Pro, not the newer Spotlight Cam Pro (2nd Gen/4K).
Problem
The camera consistently fails to connect to my TP-Link Omada EAP783 Wi-Fi network when the SSID uses WPA2-PSK/AES. During initial Ring setup, the process reaches approximately 95% and then fails. I performed extensive controlled testing using a dedicated 2.4-GHz SSID. With the same Ring camera, EAP783 access points, SSID, password, VLAN and underlying network, the results are:
A simple temporary PSK was used during testing to eliminate password length or special characters as a variable.
This is not limited to initial Ring setup
1. WPA-PSK/AES - camera connects and operates normally.
2. Change only the same SSID to WPA2-PSK/AES - camera will not reconnect.
3. Change the same SSID back to WPA-PSK/AES - camera reconnects successfully without resetting or reconfiguring
the Ring camera.
The failure therefore appears to occur during the actual WPA2/RSN connection process and is not simply a problem with
the Ring app's initial setup workflow.
Underlying network eliminated
The camera operates correctly through the EAP783 on my normal IoT VLAN when WPA-PSK/AES or an open WLAN is
used.

Most important comparison: WPA2 works with another AP
I connected an ASUS GT-AX11000 Pro in access-point mode to my network and configured a 2.4-GHz WLAN using
WPA2-PSK. This same Spotlight Cam Pro connected successfully to the ASUS WLAN using WPA2-PSK.
Ring + ASUS GT-AX11000 Pro + WPA2-PSK -> WORKS
Ring + TP-Link EAP783 + WPA2-PSK/AES -> FAILS
The camera is therefore demonstrably capable of WPA2 operation, but WPA2 fails specifically when it communicates
with the TP-Link EAP783.
Additional troubleshooting
The EAP783s are hardware version US v1.0 running firmware 1.1.5.
• 2.4 GHz only
• 20-MHz channel width
• 802.11b/g/n mixed mode
• PMF disabled
• 802.11r disabled
• U-APSD disabled
• OFDMA disabled
• Band steering disabled
• MLO disabled
• Simple SSID and PSK
None of these changes allowed WPA2-PSK/AES to work.

I am hoping this will be escalated to the Ring networking/firmware engineering team as a possible WPA2/RSN interoperability issue between the Spotlight Cam Pro 2K and TP-Link EAP783.
