Birds Eye View Useless in the UK & Poor Video Quality – No Fix After Years

I'm having two major ongoing issues with my Ring setup:---1. Birds Eye View is completely useless in the UKThe feature relies on Mapbox satellite data, but in the UK the imagery is incredibly low quality—just a blurry, pixelated mess. You can't make out any detail, so it's pointless for identifying movement paths or property layout. This has been raised by UK users repeatedly for years, including on Reddit and Ring’s own forums, and still nothing has been improved. The feature is still actively promoted, despite not working properly in this region.---2. “2K” video quality is extremely poorDespite being advertised as 2K with “expanded detail,” the image quality on devices like the Spotlight Cam Pro and Video Doorbell Pro 2 is soft, lacks detail, and fails to clearly show faces or number plates—even at close range.Everything appears smoothed out or over-compressed. I’ve confirmed this isn’t a bandwidth or connection issue—it’s a consistent issue across devices and many other users online have reported the same.---System Setup:I’m on the Ring Home Premium Plan and have the following devices:3x Spotlight Cam Pro (Plug-in)1x Indoor Cam (1st Gen)1x Indoor Cam (2nd Gen)1x Video Doorbell Pro 23x Chime Pro (2nd Gen)All cameras are hardwired, fully up to date, and connected to a gigabit WiFi network. All show full signal strength.---Troubleshooting Steps I’ve Taken:Cleaned camera lenses with microfiber clothsRebooted all devicesPerformed factory resetsRe-added all devices to the appOptimised WiFi and Chime Pro placementConfirmed high-speed internet and local device bandwidthSet all cameras to highest quality settingsChecked router logs and network health---Support Experience:I’ve contacted Ring Support via live chat and phone. I was told both issues were "raised as feedback," but nothing was resolved and no timeline or follow-up was given. The response felt like a brush-off. Given how long these issues have been around, it’s disappointing there’s still no fix or meaningful acknowledgment.---Please treat this as more than just another feedback ticket—these are core features of your premium product line that simply don’t work as promised, at least not for UK users. When can we expect an actual solution?

Thanks for the reply, Caitlyn — but I have to agree with what the other user said above. The vector map option is just as useless. Either the button doesn’t work (as they've mentioned for Ireland), or when it does, the data is too basic to be of any actual use. It’s not a solution — just a workaround that avoids the real issue: the satellite imagery in the UK is extremely low quality and makes Bird’s Eye View completely unusable. This has been the case for years with no meaningful improvement. Also, the fact that Ring continues to promote this feature across marketing and packaging with no regional disclaimer is misleading. The functionality simply isn’t there in the UK, so users are being sold a premium feature that doesn’t actually work. On the video quality — again, I’ve got a fully hardwired setup, gigabit WiFi, all cameras on full signal, highest quality settings, fibre internet, and I’ve gone through every single support-recommended step: factory resets, re-adding, chime placements, network tuning, etc. None of it makes a difference. The image is over-compressed and soft, with zero detail on faces or plates even just a few metres away. The issue clearly isn’t bandwidth — it’s either poor image processing or deliberate compression. Loads of users are reporting the same thing, and still we’re being told to “send examples” as if this is a one-off issue. It’s not. It’s systemic. It feels like UK users are constantly left behind or ignored. There’s been no actual fix or even roadmap for resolving these long-standing problems. At the very least, Ring needs to stop advertising Bird’s Eye View as a functioning feature in regions where it clearly doesn’t work.
