Keeps Increasing Price
I’ve been a loyal Ring customer for years, paying $99/year for their standard subscription which included professional monitoring. Without adding any additional features, Ring decided to make professional monitoring an add-on and started charging an extra $99/year on top of the $99 I was already paying. That’s a 100% price increase for the exact same service! This feels like nothing more than a money grab. The value just isn’t there anymore, and the way they’ve split the features is misleading to loyal customers.I cancelled my subscription because I’m not going to reward a company that doubles prices overnight and hides it behind “plan changes.” Very disappointed — there are plenty of other options out there that respect their customers.

Ring is just with corporate America now… A corporate greed attitude, sticking it to the regular paying customer. When I first got my ring, there wasn’t even a subscription to pay now it goes up like every six months it seems, but I’m not getting anything different despite their saying, we get improved quality. I don’t want it. Don’t raise my price and just let me keep what I have. Ring has just become greedy. I remember when I used to be able to record without having to pay now they just want more and more pay and they offer nothing in exchange. Let me keep what I have and quit charging me more! Corporate greed. We are going to look for alternatives because rings just gonna keep charging you more and more. It’s never gonna stop.

Yeah. Years ago, Ring already increased prices by around 35 to 40%, claiming that now uses have the benefit of 180 day video storage. I don’t need 180 days because I’m only using this doorbell for a security feature in case of a break-in. What I need is a 24 to 48 hour cloud storage. Ring wanted to force me to pay for 180 days which I do not use. So I quit my plans and bought Aqara. They offer a basic plan for free, which is fine enough for me for security purposes.
Try to imagine you rent a house at a reasonable price and the landlord suddenly decides to put a pool into your backyard and doubles your rent. But you don’t even swim.
So you are correct: This is a money grab

I think this is pitiful that I have paid $100 as I was one of the first to jump in even before Amazon bought them. I was under the impression that the $10 per month or $100 annually and I buy the equipment was a far better security deal than ADT or AT&T. Now I get hit with a 100% increase. I called Ring and they raised it to a Supervisor who basically kept reading the script that they notified us nearly 18 months in advance, blah blah blah. I offered a remedy to have them buy back my seven cameras, doorbell, two keypads, controller, motion detector and approximately 24 window and door sensors and pay me the cost of me installing some of these with an electrician...they said (You guessed it). We cannot do that. I asked for Jeff Bezo's email or phone number, of course they could not give me that.
Lastly I said that all Ring Legacy members who were under the impression than the monitoring price stayed the same and we had to buy all equipment and they said, "There is not contract." hmmm.
I really think that we should hire a lawyer and file a Class Action Lawsuit as raising prices 100% is an unfair trade act.
What a shame, the Bezo's money wagon keeps rolling.

I totally agree! I was just reconciling my credit card statement and thought I was double-billed by Ring.com. After speaking with the first "less than good" customer service at Ring since I subscribed, I was told that prices have doubled...doubled. That's a ridiculously high increase for no additional services. Maybe a 20-25% increase would be tolerable, but 100%? Sorry Ring...you've lost a long-time customer.

UI just went through the same experience - I noticed the double charge and tried to go through the chat feature to have the extra charge removed. Unfortunately, I couldn't get anywhere with the limited chat options. When I finally got a customer service number I called and learned about the monitoring fee increasing by 100%. After 41 minutes on the line to cancel my service and get a refund, the call was dropped. I'm too frustrated to even try and call back today. 🤬
