I was denied a Ring Home free trial
Hi. So I purchased a Ring Spotlight Cam Pro Battery on Saturday 31st Nov. (Yep just 4 days ago) from my local JB Hi-Fi store https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/ring-spotlight-cam-pro-battery-whiteI've never had any Ring devices or an account before. I went through setup without a hitch, the box, packaging, stickers etc were all brand new, and the product works great. Except for the Ring Home free trial (30 day trial for new customers and products). I could not find how to activate this. When I called Ring support, I was told that this device with this exact same MAC address had already been bound to an account back in May 2024 - 6 months previously! This is absolutely ridiculous and untrue! JB Hi-Fi only sell new products, they don't sell refurbished products, and by Australian law they return any security products back to the manufacturer in case of a customer return. So how could I possibly have ended up with a product that someone has already used 6-months earlier?

Hi @user_a745b1. No, we do not have access to any Ring account details, as the Ring Community is a public forum. It sounds like there might have been some kind of mix-up with the retailer in which a previously used device was sold as new. You could try contacting the retailer to see if you can get an exchange.

Hi @user_a745b1. This is odd, considering that you've purchased this from an authorized retail partner. Hopefully this was just an odd coincidence and won't happen again on your next purchase.
