"Error Adding Device" Solved
troubleshooting

Posting a fix here since the feedback form is broken and there's no way to submit feedback to Ring.I was trying to add my first alert smoke alarm but I kept getting "Error Adding Device" and restarting the device and the base station did nothing to help.The problem was that my base station was in Home Mode, which I have frequently enabled and have customized to not alert when my door sensor opens yet keep my cameras on when I am home.When I disarmed the system, I was able to proceed with adding my device.Hopefully the Ring team sees this and forwards it over to the dev team so they can help anyone else in this situation by adding a friendly diagnostic error.

    Hi @user_33b0c3. I'm glad you were able to get your First Alert Smoke Alarm up and running, thank you for sharing! Your system must be Disarmed in order to set up a new device. Regarding the error message, I've passed this feedback onto the appropriate team.
