I wanted to share some product feedback that I think reflects a real gap in Ring Alarm's current offering.

I have a single-address property with a detached mother-in-law suite that has its own separate entrance. My use case is simple: when my parents visit and stay in the suite, I want them to be able to arm and disarm their space independently — without affecting the alarm on the main house, and without me having to manage it for them every time.

The workaround I've found is to set up a second base station as a separate "location," but Ring then requires an additional $199/year subscription for that second location. For a single physical address with a common ownership scenario (in-law suites, ADUs, guest houses), this feels like the wrong model. I shouldn't need to pay for two full location subscriptions just to give a family member independent alarm access within my own property.

What I'd love to see on the Ring roadmap: zone-level or unit-level arming within a single account and subscription — essentially the ability to define sub-zones at one address that can be armed/disarmed independently with their own PIN or access control. This is a very common living situation, especially as ADUs and multi-generational households become more prevalent.

I'm a former Amazon employee and have been a Ring customer for several years, so I have a real interest in seeing the product succeed here. Happy to participate in any beta or product research if that would be helpful.
