Base Station Repeatedly Switches To Cellular Backup
I've seen previous posts regarding this, but the troubleshooting described in those posts has not helped. I've had a Ring system for almost 3 years. About a week ago, the base station started going to cellular backup every hour or two and then reconnecting for an hour or two. I've tried everything: restarting it with and without pulling the battery, hard wiring with an ethernet cable, restarting the T-Mobile gateway. I left it unplugged without the battery for around 6 hours. I've gone so far as to do a full system reset and reinstall the whole thing. I'm not having problems with anything else on my network including Ring cameras, and I have a lot of other things on my network. Did something change recently that would cause the base station to start behaving like this? I'm at the point of thinking the base station is bad.

I started having this same issue. I looked on my Ring Base Station history and it started on January 15, 2026. The system disconnects from WIFI at the same time every few hours (often 2 minutes past the hour). I have tried everything including reboots and ethernet - Ring even sent me a new base station. I have reset some settings on my router - creating a custom DNS seems to have improved it a bit but not fully fixed the issue. Maybe an update was pushed??

That's interesting because looking back at my history, that's the same date (Jan 15th) that I started having the disconnection issues. I hope Ring will look into what occurred on that date and send a fix. I don't think the user should be required to start playing with internet settings to get it to stop. Particularly when I had no problem initially setting it up. Hopefully more people will chime in so Ring makes it a priority.

I’m having the same issues as well. Every 2 hours it will go into cellular backup.

USame issue here. Called Ring support who has sent replacement base station and still having same issues. Never had an issue until a couple months ago. Obviously and update error or something on their end. After several hours of tech support and still unresolved I am about to dump the Ring system.
