Base station & door contact alarm

Just tested the door contact device with base unit in Self Monitoring, the schedule was set to Away. The base station flashed red, no alarm. In this case that is fine but I want to know if not audible alarming is the normal function of Self Monitoring. To be clear, the door unit is on front door of my Mom’s apartment next door to me. Having the red flashing light with a mellow beeping should be enough but if I need louder audible how can that be set?
