Mailbox sensor firmware update
troubleshooting

I was notified in the app to update my mailbox sensor. I followed the instructions including replacing the batteries. After multiple attempts I was unable to complete the update and now the device only reports as offline.I’ve replaced the batteries twice and tried to restart multiple times.

Mine is doing something similar. I was able to update it but hours later it still says to update. Tried again and can’t get it to work.

Same here. App claims update successful, but unit then shows offline and app prompts to "Install New Update". App also shows previous battery level altho new batts were installed as directed. If this issue is addressed by Ring as promptly as their usual responses, we're in for months or years of frustration. I intend to pursue a "chat" with support, but I don't hold out much hope that we haven't BRICKED our mailbox sensors. I'll post more if there's anything new to report.

UPDATE - Good news (maybe): After trying the Firmware Update procedure multiple times, I finally resorted to removing the sensor and re-adding it. Now all is back to normal. Signal: Good Battery: 100% Firmware version: Up to Date ==== Half hour later OFFLINE AGAIN! ==== An hour later back to normal. This is not instilling great confidence. I'll post if it fail again.

Hi Justin- My mailbox sensor has been solid since my post of 09-XXXXXX. On July 18 I received an email offering a free upgrade to a newer version of the mailbox sensor that touts 3 year battery life. That's a terrific solution. I hereby retract my snarky comment about "months or years of frustration" waiting for an issue to be resolved.
