Floodlight Cameras Motion Activated Lights

Ok, so my floodlight camera is acting up. When the dome underneath it detects motion the dome flashes a few times but the lights won't come on.

I've chatted with two agents who tell me in one comment that the lights don't work if the camera doesn't detect motion. In the next statement they say the opposite.

I found a video on YouTube FROM Ring that says the dome on the bottom detects motion for the lights. There's a reason the app has camera settings and independent light settings.

The camera is mounted on an overhang and the camera sees the yard. Under the overhang is a porch that only the light sensor can see but the camera cannot.

When the floodlight malfunctions, which is happening repeatedly and inconsistently, when I walk under and behind the camera, the dome flashes 5 times and the lights don't come on.

To prove this,  I moved the camera to a position that REALLY guarantees the camera can't see me, and the sensor under the dome on the bottom DID trigger the lights.

So my real problem is sometimes the sensor doesn't work. Sometimes it flashes 4 times and nothing else happens. I have to either cycle the breaker that powers the camera or set up the device from scratch to fix the problem. Rebooting from the app doesn't. I have one floodlight that's at least 30 ft high and another that still requires a ladder to be able to reset it.

Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone gotten effective customer support to fix the problem or replace the camera? The chat agents don't seem to be any use at all, constantly changing the story as to whether the lights work independently of the camera or not. I have verified, in person, that the lights work independently. I even found a video Ring published to YouTube that backs me up, but these chat agents are completely useless in this case.
