Saved recordings disappear
troubleshooting

My mother in laws video doorbell (2nd gen) will pick up all movement and will send notifications and will keep the recordings for a few hours.

If you need to look at these recordings for instance the next day, sometimes just hours later, they are all gone. No "person detected" recordings are saved whatsoever. I can scroll back through the snapshots and no people appear whatsoever, all recordings of people coming and going are gone.

RSSI-45. Hardwired.

I've rebooted the camera via the app, rebooted the WiFi router and turned the power supply off to the camera for a minute before turning back on. The only thing I haven't done is a hard reset yet using the button on the back. The subscription is up to date also.

Any help appreciated.

Hi @user_db34b2. An active Ring Home subscription is required for access to video recording. Does she have a current plan for this Doorbell? After ensuring the subscription is active, have her check her video storage time setting. The default is 30 days, but it sounds like it may have been changed to 1 day at some point. This would cause the videos to be automatically deleted 1 day after they were recorded.

      Hi, thanks for your answer.

I've checked and it's set to 30 days.

I think nearly ever setting I've looked at is the same as mine and still no "person detected" is getting saved.

Hi @user_db34b2. When viewing your History in the History menu, be sure that you are adjusting the filters to ensure that certain event types aren't being filtered out. Also, make sure that your Ring app is up-to-date. You can also search your History on Ring.com. Let me know if this helps.

    Hi, Tom_Ring,

There is nothing checked in the History menu and the app is up to date. If I click on the camera and just scroll through the snap shots, none of the detected person recordings are saved. Sometimes they are there for hours, saved and you can scroll back and watch the action, other days they are gone within hours. Ultimately, if I scroll back through the snapshots, absolutely every movement that has been captured by the camera disappears. I have days and days of no movement recorded, even though it has at some point been there.
