Motion Categorization Issue - Missing People Alerts
Hello. I have a Ring Doorbell Pro (Pro 2 I think was the old name).
I have a zone configured, and within that zone I have it set to:
- For other motion, just record.
- For person motion, record and alert.
In a situation of:
- Delivery driver pulls into driveway, and drops food off at door.
Im getting a result of:
- Motion starts recording because the car was initially categorized as "Other Motion". No alert. This is correct.
- The problem is - this motion is not later updated as "Person Motion" - so I never actually get an alert. Because the motion started out as "Other Motion", it is not being updated/segmented into a new clip of "People Motion".
To me this is a big issue - because it means my strategy of "Record all motion, but only alert on people motion" will almost never work. Most motion segments will start out as "Other Motion" before they transition to "People Motion" when the person exists a vehicle and comes to the door.
What can be done here? This seems to be like a relatively simple and common use-case, and I'm surprised at how the Ring Software handles it. To me, once "Other Motion" is able to be objectively verified as "People Motion" - the category should change it and should now fall under "People Motion" rules.
Thank you

Hi @user_cff779. This is the intended behavior. A motion event cannot be recategorized while it is occurring. My recommendation would be to adjust your Motion Zone to exclude the street, making it more likely that a motion event begins when someone is walking up to your door instead.
