Outdoor camera frequently misses major motion activities

I regularly have significant motion occurring well within the detection boundaries of my camera that go undetected and unrecorded. For instance, me and my large dog walking directly through the center of the frame without detection. This seems to be selective as well, where I can walk directly through my yard and be recorded, but then undetected when I walk the same path in the other direction. This indicates that it is not a network or power issue, but due to the hardware or software. Not only is this frustrating, but I'm becoming concerned for safety as there have been several suspicious events that went undetected - foreign objects left on my back deck, gate is opened after confirming that it was previously closed and locked, and people walking through the yard without being detected - all of which are well within the detection boundaries, with motion settings set to the max. Is there any tech support for this, or any other course of action? Given the prevalence of this issue and potential safety risks of a faulty camera, this feels like a complete failure to deliver the desired service.
