Ring AI Pro Migration/Proration didn’t account for protect plan charge
I recently received a prorated charge after being informed that Ring was migrating me to their new “Ring AI Pro” plan. The new plan claims to be $199.99/year. A few weeks ago, I setup my plan with both $99.99 for “Home Standard” and $100 for “Professional Monitoring”.
Reviewing the invoice for the recent proration charge, it accounts for:
- The pro rated charge for new plan
- The pro rated credit for the existing “Home Standard” (now called “Ring Multi”)
That credit accounts half of the charge amount (with 1 penny of variance).
What is missing is any prorated credit for the “Professional Monitoring” plan. That credit would have obviously accounted for the other half of the charge amount (plus the extra penny) were it to have been applied properly.
This appears likely to be a systemic error. Additionally, attempting to load my plan information on ring.com fails repeatedly as though there is a backend error with pulling my plan details. The ring app likewise fails to load my current plan.
I obviously want this erroneous charge refunded to my card immediately, but I also want you to proactively fix this on every affected account. Someone shouldn’t have to call you out individually about your obvious error to avoid being charged an extra ~$100.

- I was charged for ~355.4 days of AI Pro
- I was credited for ~355.4 days of home standard on that charge
- I was refunded only ~334.6 days for the profession monitoring subscription despite having the same length of time left on the subscription.
UHello Justin,
My renewal date for both the standard plan and the professional monitoring plan was the same, but my refunds (1 for home standard included as a credit on the new invoice and 1 for professional monitoring issued later after contacting support) did not cover the cost of the new charge despite the obvious math (see other replies) showing that that cannot be the case without an error on your end. I did not receive an “additional refund” to cover the difference.
However you are calculating refunds for professional monitoring, it is bugged. As a programmer, my first thought is that your refund calculation is using either the start of my trial or the date I setup the subscriptions to take effect after the trial rather than the date my subscriptions actually started.
Please tell me what I need to do to fix this issue and what you will commit to do to fix this for all affected users (both for this and for ALL HISTORICAL REFUNDS with this error)

Same here. Their “Ring Plan” section of the website also appears to be down so no way to cancel or check the current plan. Was on hold 45 mins before I gave up

Same here. Unable to get through to customer support and the AI chat bot is useless.

UJust got a refund, but there's a $12 difference between the refund and the amount I was charged. In the end, what I paid versus what the plan costs now should equal out.

UGot a refund back too with a $6 difference. This feels very arbitrary and support seems to not understand what it means to prorate a charge. If you are replacing $199.99/year across 2 plans with a single $199.99/year plan (sharing the same end date) then they should perfectly balance out regardless of how far you are into the plan.
199.99 • x - (99.99 + 100) • x = 0
idc if the “refunds are automatically generated on a prorated % system” (from my support chat) - the system got it wrong.

I have no interest in paying for AI features in Ring. Charge the people who want those features! Having this shoved down our throat with a $100 up-charge is disappointing to say the least. I'll begin looking for alternatives right away.

Hi neighbors. Thanks for your patience. We understand billing changes can be confusing, so let me clarify what happened with your Ring AI Pro migration on January 14, 2026.
You were migrated to Ring AI Pro to simplify your plan structure. Your previous setup included two separate subscriptions with different billing cycles: your Home Standard plan and your Alarm Professional Monitoring add-on (now included in Ring AI Pro). Here's the breakdown of charges and refunds on your account: a new charge for your Ring AI Pro plan, a first refund for unused time on your Home Standard plan, a second refund for unused time on your Alarm Professional Monitoring add-on, and an additional refund to account for the difference in billing cycles. Please note that the Alarm Professional Monitoring refund processes separately from the other credits and should now be visible on your account.
Because your original Home Standard plan and Alarm Professional Monitoring add-on may have had different renewal dates, the refunds may not have perfectly offset the new Ring AI Pro charge. This additional refund ensures you're only paying for the service you're actually using.
Every customer's refund amount is unique based on their specific billing cycles, plan combination, and migration timing.
Additionally, any issues viewing your plan details on Ring.com should be resolved. For any additional questions about the new subscription plans, please check out https://ring.com/support/articles/lw54x/ring-subscriptions.
