Firmware Updates Breaking Devices + Warranty Not Honored (Even on Premium Plan)
Seeing a lot of similar posts, and I’m going through the same thing.
My camera went from fully working to completely dead (offline, won’t reconnect) with no warning. No notifications from Ring. Just stopped working.
What’s worse is the support experience:
- Forced to repeat the same troubleshooting steps 7–8 times across calls/chats
- Wasted hours in a single week doing the same process over and over
- Chats get ghosted, calls dropped, and responses are inconsistent
Eventually I’m told my account is flagged because I’ve had replacements before — all legitimate faulty devices, returned properly, and covered under my premium plan.
Instead of honoring the warranty, they delay, dodge, and make you jump through hoops.
At this point:
- Device is still not replaced
- No clear timeline
- No accountability
If this is how firmware issues + warranty claims are handled, what’s the point of paying for a premium plan? And what happens if you don’t have one — just buy a new device every couple of years?
This is pushing customers away, not retaining them.

We do not have access to account details on the Community, so I cannot speak to your device's warranty, or see what options are available if all troubleshooting has been exhausted.
