Motion Sensor - what type of motion

I hope this doesn't come across as a stupid question, but what does the second gen motion detector detect? Is it only living things, humans & animals, or will it detect say a curtain moving, if blown from a window left ajar?I don't want any "false alarms"Thanks in advance.

Hi @user_a9d9f4. I'm happy to clarify this for you! The 2nd Generation Motion Detector is designed to measure both heat and movement over time. This means that something like a curtain moving due to the wind or an air vent could trigger the motion detection. The general recommendation is to avoid installing the Motion Detector where it faces windows, vents, or heat sources. You can also find an overview of the settings available here https://ring.com/support/articles/n58ds/Ring-Alarm-Motion-Detector-Settings.
