- C@Mike550 The Keypad's battery should not stop holding a charge or die, as it is a rechargeable battery and with the battery life it has, it doesn't need to be charged very often. With that said, you are able to extend your warranty past the existing limited 1-year warranty by subscribing to the [Ring Protect Plus](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021900312-Ring-Protect-Plus-Information) plan. This is completely optional and the Keypad is designed to last for many years with standard use.•

THi there, Neighbors. I would suggest not opening your keypad and installing an aftermarket battery. The Keypad is not designed to be opened up and have a new battery installed. If your Keypad has for one reason or another failed, please reach out to us on Facebook, Instagram or X @Ring to go over options.

- DAfter 2 years both of my keypads have went bad when the battery blew up. The case on the keypad is bulging. They only offer a one year warranty on these devices. I have many rechargable battery devices and never have i have such consistent failures as i have with Ring keypads. Needless to say I refuse to buy another keypad that will only go bad as well after 2 years. This is not normal wear but bad quality I suspect.•

PYeah, this is sad. i bought the ring alarm and the keypad went bad after 2 weeks, you're right about it going bad after 2years, i opened my keypad, and discovered the keypad is poorly designed. i live in Africa, its hard sending products back to the US talk less of getting a decent customer service over international calls. i regret buying the Ring alarm, i have the doorbell and enjoy it till date, i should have gone for a Wyze alarm system, which is actually cheaper and more durable.•2

- SOur keypad is never used. All actions are done via the Ring app but I understand many would still use the keypad. That said, I would say that most that use the keypad will most likely subscribe to Ring Protect Plus, and if this is the case, won't the included warranty cover these types of issues?•

- Uif you are out of warranty you may have to see if Ifixit has a kit to replace the battery.•

- UBattery exploded inside the ring keypad after only 2 years use. Something seriously wrong with the battery/design. Reminds me of the old cell phone battery exploding issues. Have to wonder if this could be a serious safety issue since the keypad is mounted on a wall.•
