Solar panel and drained battery

Hi
As a trial I have recently fitted a solar panel to one of our spotlight cam plus, just the one to see how it performs. It's been up 2 nights and each night it has drained a fully-charged battery. Previously a single battery would last a week.
I turned off the lights after the first night but the battery was completely empty this morning. It charged up to 2%! when we had some sun this morning but it's now overcast and nothing is coming from the camera.
What am I doing wrong?

So the answer is that I had the camera set to wired. Using a solar panel you keep it on battery setting. I changed it yesterday and battery is still showing 100% at 10.40 next day.
