Help! Is there a way to setup Doorbell so that it is not linked to a phone?

Win11PC dashboard & android tablet. I canceled my Ring plan because someone ringing doorbell triggered need to sign in which also required entering a verification code sent to my phone. I'm older than dirt. This was impossibly hard for me to do. I have a wired ring doorbell pro with chime. Set up, if I recall, required use of my cell phone. Is it possible to set it up without a cell phone and end the verification madness? The device works fine but the sign-in demands of the app are impossible for me to manage and I also want visitors to have access via an android tablet.

Hi @mcdanielth. You can use an Android tablet to set up a Doorbell as long as the device meets the requirements mentioned in this Help Center article. https://ring.com/support/articles/a7tsd/downloading-and-updating-the-Ring-app

I replied but it must not have gone through.Let me try again: My problem is Ring is tied to my smartphone to which verification codes are sent. The devices work (Ring Wired Doorbell Plus with Chime Pro) with the tablet okay but I am unable to subscribe to a plan or allow my new housemate access to the doorbell because of the verification code/smartphone issue. Also, the PC desktop dashboard must have had a bug because someone ringing the doorbell would trigger a demand that I login AGAIN including entering a verification code, before I could answer! I need to totally free the Ring doorbell from my phone and the verification code requirement to be able to use it.

Hey Justin, before I could see if you had replied to my reply, I was just required to login again AND enter the verification code, not to my email which I could easily access from my desktop pc, but to my phone! If I could even substitute an email address for this step, it would not be the impossible hurdle that the verification code is. Aarrrgggghhhhh!

@mcdanielth. The only other way to verify your account would be using an authenticator app. This Help Center page will show you how to enable this. https://ring.com/support/articles/2mmqs/setting-up-two-step-verification-for-Ring

The authenticator app would leave me in the same predicament. I wish the developers would allow use of one's email rather than phone, for receiving the code. The app and process make the doorbell unusable. Thanks anyway. At some point I'll get a different brand
