Depending on which Ring Doorbell model you purchase, the appropriate Pro Power Kit or Chime Kit Mini will be included in the box. I am trying to ensure I can use my old chime with the new 3rd Generation Wired 4K Pro.  My wife is requesting the old chime be used or I’ll be asked to return it.  I’m currently on bypass from the door bell so I can power the Ring and I’m using the Ring doorbell plug in.  Is the power pro kit what I need?

Hi Caitlyn - Apologies for not using your name here.  Thank you for your response.  Any help on how I can do this with the latest 3rd Generation 4K Wired Pro Doorbell to make my existing Doorbell Chime work with it - would be great.  Currently I have the to two (Front/Trans) wired connected to bypass to ensure adaquate power to the new Ring unit.  Videos show that using the Pro Kit will allow the old doorbell chime to work - but I want to be careful not to negatively impact my new doorbell.  Thank you

@user_d89d60 That is not an option with the Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen). The included Chime Kit Mini must be fitted, or the chime must be bypassed by connecting the Front and Trans wires together with an included wire nut. If your home has more than one chime, the additional chimes must be bypassed.

 

Any information you find regarding other Doorbell Pro models in which a Pro Power Kit is used are not applicable to the Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen). Different Ring device models have different installation and power requirements, so it is important to ensure you are looking at information that pertains to the same model of device you have.
