My floodlight cam stopped detecting motion a couple of months ago. I troubleshooted with Ring CSR on 2 separate occasions and they want me to try and replicate the issue including calling back at night and walking up and down the street/driving by etc. This is ridiculous. You can clearly see what once used to be detected now randomly does not get detected anymore (vehicles driving by, animals walking by on the snapshot capture but no video capture) even when my sensitivity is now maxed out (whereas it was only at 2/3 before and was able to capture the motion). Frustrating and a let down to say the least. I searched some older threads and seems to be happening to others too but no solutions have been provided.

I agree with the sentiment highlighted in this issue. The sensitivity is varied, esspecially at the fringes of the zones.

Same problem. Only people being displayed despite cranked up motion. Exactly not what I am interested in or have experienced with my prior ring device. I want ALL activity shown especially for the wildlife that walks by.

Hi @user77459. If you have a Ring Protect plan, make sure you check your Smart Alerts settings to ensure you don’t have other motion turned off for recording and alerts. We have more information on Smart Alerts here. Additionally, ensure your Floodlight Cam is installed at an appropriate height of about 9 feet. If your camera is too high or low, this will negatively impact motion detection.

I wish I would have read these issues sooner before replacing my first Ring Floodlight with the Pro. The video quality is better but it defeats the purpose when it doesn’t record videos very often. I have also confirmed motion sensitivity is maxed out and I’m having the same issues mentioned here. It’s now 2026 so Ring should have addressed these issues by now.
