Do the new Outdoor Cam Plus POE actually get connectivity via Ethernet OR ONLY WIFI...........Tech support (entry level) can't answer this
So, I have five of the new Outdoor Cam Plus POE units and I assumed since they are POE I'd get Ethernet connectivity as well as power to them. This is pretty standard with POE devices (IE:Elite Doorbell Camera, Stickup Cam ELite). But after checking the specs closely it says connectivity is only WiFi. If this is true, that's absurd. Getting them totally hardwired (power + connection) is the whole idea of POE. Plus, no potential of WiFi jammers.......Can anyone here confirm yes or no for ethernet connectivity??? I'm hoping a Ring Tech may read posts and respond.

I have a similar question and cannot get a straight answer out of the support team on the phone. I'm looking to purchase the Spotlight Cam Pro (Newest Model) but the only options are plug in (which I don't want), or PoE. Can I power these using regular power (switching out existing regular outdoor lights) and connect via wifi, or do I have to wire ethernet to these locations.

CHi @user_953e87. It is not recommended to try and use a different power option. The Spotlight Cam Pro (2nd Gen) can be powered via Plug-In or Power over Ethernet. For internet connectivity, the Plug-In version requires wifi, while the Power over Ethernet version can use wifi or Ethernet. You can view the power and connectivity information on the product page: https://ring.com/products/spotlight-cam-pro-2nd-gen/color/white/power/plug-in/multipack/1-pack.

Hi @user_996316. Yes, the Outdoor Cam Plus Power over Ethernet can be connected to the internet either through wifi or Ethernet. I passed this feedback to the appropriate team, and the Tech Specs on the product page were updated to reflect this information. Let me know if you have any other questions.
