Solar Connected, Battery (New) never charges
Hello,
I have solar (new) connected to my stick up cam and a fresh battery (new battery). It says it's connected to solar, but it never charges the battery.
I've removed the battery, replaced it, rebooted the cam multiple times, yet it never charges the battery. I've also checked the connection several times, all is well. It also receives direct sunlight from around 10:30 am until around 7 pm, and the panel is clean.
Again, it shows that IS connected to solar. (The little icon is there, plus it says in Device Health "Solar Status: Connected). Yet it NEVER, EVER charges. No charging icon ever shows up in place of the connected icon either. The battery is down to 53% and falling.
Thanks in advance for any help, I'm at my wits end.

i have 4 cameras with solar. i swap the solar panel around. the solar panel that was working on one camera, works on the one it was swapped to. the other one says "connected" but not charging ie no lightning bolt. What is going on? they are indentical positions, same sun, same angle. swap solar panels and the other camera is charging.

SHello... as I stated the panel is in DIRECT FULL sunlight for 8 1/2 hours per day, more than double what is required.
The camera NEVER, EVER charges. EVER. The solar connected icon is there as I said, but the solar charging icon never shows up. It appears I wasted my money on the solar panel.

Hi @SoylentGreen. The solar panel needs about 4 hours of direct sunlight per day in order to provide a trickle charge to the battery. Indirect sunlight won't be sufficient. It's also worth noting that the battery can discharge more quickly than it can be charged, as the trickle charge is not the same as plugging the battery in to manually charge it. Check your Event History to see how many events your camera is recording each day.
