Feature Feedback for Ring Battery Doorbell (2024 Release)

Hello Ring Team,I’m a current user of the Ring Battery Doorbell – 2024 release (Venetian Bronze) and appreciate the quality of your products. However, I’ve noticed a recurring issue with motion detection that I hope can be improved through future firmware updates.Even with my settings configured for:• Frequent motion checks• Maximum motion sensitivity• Clearly defined motion zones• Smart Alerts enabled for all motion types (Person, Vehicle, Package, Other)…the device often fails to begin recording immediately. The wake-up delay seems to miss the beginning of events, especially when individuals wear hoodies, hats, or masks, or deliberately lower their heads to obscure their identity. In many of these cases, the camera doesn’t start recording until the person is already mid-frame or exiting the field of view.I understand battery-powered units need to conserve energy, but it appears the current AI logic prioritizes person confirmation over instant motion detection, which results in a delay that undermines the purpose of early capture. For security purposes, I believe motion detection should always take priority, with person/package classification handled concurrently or afterward.Additionally, I’d love to see Ring integrate enhanced AI features such as:• HDR or dynamic contrast adjustment (like “MagicPix”-style enhancement used by other apps)• Improved detection of obscured individuals• Edge-based instant recording on any motion (even if classification follows)These improvements could dramatically increase the device’s effectiveness, especially in high-traffic or higher-risk environments.Thank you for your time and for continually working to improve user experience.
