Ring doorbell missing lots of motion
Previously had a 2nd gen battery powered ring camera. It unfortunately broke so upgraded to the 3rd gen however since having it in the exact same place where the old one was before it is missing a lot of motion even when people walk up/park on the drive which the previous camera picked up before. I’ve turned off smart alerts adjusted motion frequency and even reset the camera however still no difference! Is there anything I’m missing?? The motion zone is one zone and there’s no privacy areas

Hi @user_4f32bd. Thank you for listing which troubleshooting steps you've already taken. I would also suggest expanding the Motion Zones and increasing the Motion Sensitivity slider. Precisely the issue I am experiencing. I've done all the troubleshooting and made all changes to appropriate settings to no avail. The new model misses up to 40% of motion whereas the old model worked flawlessly. Ring simply keep sending out replacements, and I'm currently on the 3rd replacement - same model - same problem. I have 2 in my possession which I experiment with, choosing different locations (including right alongside my Wifi router) different angles etc. The problem remains the same - missed and inconsistent motion detection. Physically pressing the doorbell button work fine - it's just motion detection which is problematic. I've been given a case number and even a tech support number in the USA, who when contacted, suggested they send someone out to help - at a cost of course, until I told them I lived in Australia (LOL). If this isn't resolved soon, I will send the devices back and get Amazon to refund my money. I will then get a different device altogether, that at least has a PIR sensor that works (I suspect the new models use a flawed algorithm that combines PIR with Video, if it uses PIR at all!)

UI have exactly the same issue. Video Doorbell 2nd gen worked perfectly fine but broke, and the new the Battery Doorbell is just pants. Regularly missing motions or catching only people’s backs when they are already leaving. Tested in every way and tried everything, including troubleshooting and having it replaced with another one by Ring.
The only remaining option I’ve now got is return with refund and buying Nest.
