Indoor cam plus going offline after recent update
Hi. I have 2 Indoor Cam Plus cameras I've had for a few months that have both started going offline constantly in the last few days.
They get stuck rebooting (blue light on for a few seconds, then off, then repeat) until I power cycle them. Then they stay online for a bit but drop out after a few hours and stay offline. Previously they would go offline occasionally for a few minutes, but would reconnect. Nothing about my WiFi has changed, my other Ring doorbell, outdoor and pan+tilt cameras are fine. One of the affected cameras is even in the same room as the router. I have tried rebooting the router.
I did notice there was a recent firmware update for the indoor cam plus (18.7.3900 released 28th May) which both my cameras are on (confirmed in the device info via Ring website). It would seem the release of this is around when my problems started. Also, weirdly, this version number seems to be a downgrade compared to the other firmware which normally increase...? (Previous version was cam-19.4.3000).
Is there anything I can check diagnostic wise, and can you look into why this might be happening?

Hi!
Last RSSI is 43. I did try a factory reset which didn't help.
I did a few more things that makes me think it's the cameras just not trying to reconnect to WiFi:
It looks like my router drops out on 2.4ghz occasionally which is probably why the cameras go offline in the first place (I tried splitting my router to separate 2.4 and 5 GHz SSIDs and noticed the 2.4 SSID drops out on my phone, but the 5GHz SSID doesn't not) but the Indoor Cam Plus models don't seem to reconnect automatically any more. Whereas my pan&tilt and outdoor cam does - it might only go offline for a minute or two.
If I press the button on top of the indoor camera twice it goes into reconnecting mode, and connects back to WiFi straight away. I did this again this morning after the camera was offline for hours without reconnecting - but it doesn't struggle to reconnect if I trigger it manually. This camera is about 3m from my router, direct line of sight. This is the one with 43 RSSI.
With one of the cameras, I've put a range extender near it (not that the signal was weak to start with) and configured that to only work on 2.4ghz, with 5ghz backhaul. This means the fact the router drops out on 2.4ghz occasionally doesn't affect this camera as it's connecting to the extender on 2.4, which then uses the reliable 5ghz to the router. This one has since stayed online for 48 hours solid.
So I know my router isn't great, but the cameras should be reconnecting automatically. This behaviour only started in the last several days, they were fine before.
Thanks,
Rob

THi @RobM82. Thanks for this information. It sounds like your router supports automatic network switching, which may cause Ring devices to disconnect from 2.4GHz networks every so often. Try creating a dedicated 2.4GHz network for just your Ring Devices. Also, make sure there are no updates available for your specific router model. Lastly, reboot your router by unplugging it for at least 5 minutes, then plug it back it. This may help with connectivity. Let us know how this goes!

Hi, me again. I've split my router to separate 2.4 and 5ghz networks but aim not sure that helped as I had to manually reboot one. I did notice that the cameras have 'updated' back to the 19.4.3000 version of firmware, instead of the erroneous 18.7.3900, so I assume Ring had somehow messed up an update? The software release history doesn't mention this though. Now they are both back in the right version they haven't been offline for protracted periods of time. đ

Hi @user_93347a. Power cycling the cameras was a good troubleshooting step to take. What is the last reported wifi signal strength for each camera? You can find this on the Device Health page in the Ring app. Additionally, have you tried performing a factory reset by holding down the setup button on the camera for 20 seconds?
