Cellular Backup when unplugged, why?
troubleshooting

Due to the continued inability of Ring as a company to allow the owner of a Ring Base Station to adjust the volume of a sounding alarm, I have decided to move the Base Station to the loft in an attempt to quiet the unit during a false alarm.Unplugging the Base Station did send the expected notification that the power had failed, but moments later it sent another notification of it resorting to Cellular Backup. My question is why? My Wifi has not gone down, and I moved the Base Station just a metre or so away from where it was, so why has it resorted to Cellular Backup? Is this another case of really poor programming? And when are Ring going to allow owners to control the volume of a sounding Base Station? So many requests for this to be implemented, or don't you care about your customers (who are still waiting for all these features you seem keen to push as a result of the 100% increase in subscription in 2 years)?

Hi @user63814. That is expected behavior; when the Base Station starts using battery backup, it will work normally for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the Base Station will continue to monitor your sensors and send alarm signals, but will shut off any other features to preserve battery life. As for being able to adjust the siren volume, I don't have any updates on that becoming a feature.

Thank you, so it is just poor programming as I assume it takes more power to connect to cellular than it does wifi.I didn't expect to hear anything positive about the siren volume becoming adjustable, we've been asking for years and I'm fed up with fighting Ring on this. It's been referred it to Erasmus, who work with the European Commission on noise pollution who are currently assessing this situation in relation to the needs of children on the autistic scale, I'm sure they wi'l be in touch with Ring directly once they've completed their investigations.
