Cannot receive real-time alerts from video doorbell owned by someone else

I'm at my wits' end after ages Googling and being sent from pillar to post by the well-intentioned but ultimately clueless AI chatbot. My landlord installed a Ring video doorbell and invited me as a shared user with Limited Access permissions/status. I have the Ring app on a Samsung Galaxy A13 (Android 14) mobile, and can see details of the device, and a live camera feed, but am not notified if someone rings the doorbell.

Near the bottom left-hand corner of the live video feed screen is a timer (n min, presumably how long the app's been open), next to which is a notification bell icon with a diagonal line through it and the adjacent legend 'Alerts Off'. I've checked app permissions in the phone itself, and Ring is allowed to send me notifications.

I've tried everything to switch alerts on, to no avail: Googling; the chatbot; reinstalling the app; getting my landlord to look at his phone settings. Some of the Google/browser AI results have steps referring to options/settings the the app doesn't have on my phone. The chatbot said it was a permissions issue, and that Limited users couldn't get real-time alerts, but browser AI says that permissions aren't the issue: -

"According to Ring's permission matrix, "Receive real-time notifications" is available at all permission levels — Limited, Standard, and Advanced. A user with Limited access can still get real-time alerts (motion detection, doorbell rings, etc.), view live video, and see event history. What Limited users cannot do is adjust device settings, manage other users, or add/remove devices."

Anyone? I don't get many visitors, but it's effing annoying that they have to phone me up to tell me they're at the door!

Hi @user_238bd4. You can reference a table overview of the different user permissions here on our Help Center. Users with Limited permissions cannot receive real-time notifications. I would recommend requesting that your landlord change your permission levels to Standard, which will provide you with access to notifications.
