Ring door bell notification

troubleshooting
my friend has a ring door bell 2 and a chime ,.both working fine.
but he is not getting a notification on is Samsung mobile.
I found the issue is he has 24 notifications on the ring app
on the Home Screen. I removed the 24 notifications
and then pressed the ring doorbell button and he
got 1 notification.
but the next day the 24 notifications came back and its
blocking any new notifications
