Ring camera system sometimes reluctant to reconnect after EE hub reboot
Sorry it's rather a lengthy post; I have had a Ring camera system for some years which, generally I’ve been very happy with. Originally connected through a copper broadband system but now on a 900MB/sec full fibre, EE, BB system for the last 2 years; I also have 2 wifi signal boosters covering the back of the property. Increasingly since then, I’ve been having reconnection problems with my Ring cameras after EE have rebooted my wifi; this is another problem I intend to investigate with EE after logging a months diary events of these problems.
My system consists a 3rd generation Doorbell; 2x outdoor stick cameras (1st generation I believe) 2x 2nd generation floodlight cameras, 2x 3rd generation floodlight cameras and a Ring chime. Sometimes everything will reconnect OK but sometimes they refuse to come back on line without my intervention, either rebooting or having to go through hub reassignment. The Chime (which is supposed to improve connectivity) is particularly problematic and sometimes refuses to connect and I just leave it off for a few hours & then its fine; interestingly, the doorbell always reconnects. Device RSSI connectivity varies between 35 & 65 which is supposed to be acceptable
I often spend long periods away from home and rely on the system for security so it’s not good when half of it refuses to reconnect. I’ve had some advice that it may be the system doesn’t like the allocated IP address after the EE BB hub reboots but no idea if this could be true or how I could rectify it. I have several other smart devices that always reconnect without any problems so it’s frustrating that the Ring system re-connectivity seems so flaky! Any help/advice on how I can make my Ring system more reliable when I’m away from home? Is this a problem associated with my BB/wifi or should I abandon Ring completely & get a more reliable system.

- Hi Tom. I have 8 Ring cameras of various age/type, some seem to be on 2.4GHz & others on 5GHz, I presume it depends on which device they are but, unfortunately, I can't easily determine which ones are on which network from the hub manager screen. Not sure if my network switches automatically, it's the very latest EE full fibre hub. I am technically trained so tend to learn fast with most things & I'm also very good with computers/software but I'm obviously still very much learning about Network problems! After research & advice yesterday, I spent some time fixing the IP address on all of the devices I'm sometimes experiencing reconnection problems, including 2 x EE mini TV boxes which sometimes wont reconnect automatically. I only did this work yesterday so won't know how successful it will be & have to wait & see. I can't imagine I'm the only one having such problems & it just amazes me that manufacturer's of sometimes even high priced kit seem to employ such flaky auto reconnection software algorithms whereas other devices have absolutely no problem reconnecting automatically at all; in this day & age, that is as it should be!

H @Karis. Are these devices connected to a 2.4GHz or 5GHz network? Does your network automatically switch between the 2? I would also check to make sure that there isn't a security protocol blocking the devices from automatically reconnecting. You may have to check with your ISP for that information.
