Outside cam not detecting motion
I purchased the ring cam plus” battery operated” to detect any motion in back yard! I’ve noticed if the motion setting is set on periodically or regular setting it will not pick up any motion no matter when there is motion! If I change setting to frequently, motion is caught every time! It seems when it’s in sleep mode, it won’t wake up with motion! I sent the camera back and purchased another one just like it! Same thing is happening! Is this normal? I would think if it’s in sleep mode, motion would wake it up without having to be set on frequently, which is going to drain battery! Please help!

I am having the same problem. I have my Ring Outdoor Cam Plus sitting on a table pointing slightly downward towards my cat's food bowl. On History it will detect me, "Person Detected". But no "Motion Detected" will be on History even though my cat and other animals come to the food. Slider is set on the highest setting, sone is full and Frequent is selected.

CHi @CNL390. How are your Smart Alert settings configured? Is it set to record and notify you of Other Motion in addition to when a person is detected? Approximately how high from the ground is the Outdoor Cam? Cameras used indoors can be mounted up to 8 feet from the ground. Having the camera too high or low, or angling it too much can also cause inconsistent motion detection and a reduced field of view.

Hi @user_6bda53. Motion Frequency is just one setting that can impact motion detection. It's also important to ensure you have your Motion Zones configured to cover the areas you want to be notified about motion in. There is also the Motion Sensitivity slider, which you can increase or decrease. Lastly, the installation height and angle of your camera also affects motion detection. How high from the ground is the camera installed? Is it angled upwards or downwards?
