Is the battery security screw really necessary?

I’m just wondering because it makes battery removal and replacement a touch more involved and doesn’t seem to serve a true security purpose to my mind. No one is going to remove the battery to avoid being captured by the video since they would be videoed during the entire process. So what is the purpose or can I disregard it?
