Ring Multi- Paying for 180 Days events but only receiving 30?
I’m posting this because it looks like something is seriously off, and other users need to check their accounts.
I’ve been paying for the Ring Protect plan that advertises up to 180 days of video history. (Ring Multi) However, after monitoring this closely for a good few months, my account is only ever holding around 30 days of footage. As soon as recordings hit that mark, everything older is wiped, across all cameras, on a rolling basis.
This isn’t a one-off glitch. It’s consistent, repeatable, and has now happened over multiple billing cycles.
At best, this is a major lack of transparency around how the subscription actually works. At worst, customers could be paying for a level of service they’re not receiving.
Ring: this needs a clear and direct answer:• Why is my footage being deleted after 30 days when I’m paying for up to 180 days? • Is there a hidden setting, limitation, or condition that hasn’t been made clear? • Is this a known issue affecting other users?
Right now, this feels misleading. If I’m paying for extended history, I expect extended history not a fraction of it.
I strongly suggest anyone on the same plan checks how far back their footage actually goes, rather than assuming it matches what’s advertised. I’ve no access to extremely important incidents that I assumed would stay safely recorded for me to go back to for olive/insurance and yet anything older than a month is gone!
Looking forward to a proper explanation.

Hi @Lightfoot. Thanks for sharing. That's absolutely correct. The date needs to be set for the time period you want outside of the default 30 days.

Tips on video storage time
- Adjusting video storage time requires an active subscription plan. This includes trial versions, although you will need to subscribe to a plan to keep videos in the cloud beyond your trial.
- If you change the video storage time, the new setting will only apply to videos captured after the setting has been changed in the Ring app or on Ring.com.
- If a Ring device is reset or replaced, storage time reverts back to 30 days.
- New devices with a Ring subscription or trial will default to 30 days.
- Devices that are set up with a new owner will default to 30 days.
- If a Ring subscription plan is cancelled and later reinstated, the device will keep the selected storage time.
- Videos will be permanently lost if they are deleted, if your plan subscription lapses or if the video storage time expires. To keep your videos, download them.

Hi @user_334683
Just set the storage time to your preferred number of days. The default is 30 days.
