Ring app settings not sticking and MODE missing
This also happened Nov. 4 2025. The Ring app goes 'wonkie', a technical term. The MODE icon is missing. The 'MOTION ALERTs is always off, and when I try to turn it on, it is a light blue and doesn't stick.
when I get out of that screen and when I return to the settings the MOTION ALERT is off.
This is on all my cameras.
And on one camera I can't turn on MOTION DETECTION or MOTION ALERTS
The only fix, after talking to customer support, is to uninstall and reinstall. I just did that on Nov. 4th 2025 and today Nov. 6th is is all wonkie again.
Yes I'll uninstall and reinstall.
Is anyone else seeing this in the app? The customer service didn't seem to of heard about this.
All are connected to the wi-fi with good connections.
I have an Android phone. With all current updates.
EDIT - This is interesting. I 'forced stop' of the app in the phone/app settings, then opened it again and the app was as it should be! The MODE icon is there, the MOTION ALERTS are on and sticking.
So I didn't have to uninstall and reinstall.
I'll try the 'force stop' from now on.
Just so weird. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Hi,
Looks like version 3.90.2
Samsung Galaxy ultra 23
It is working now, after I did 'force stop' in the app info and restarted it. The other time this happened, I reinstalled the app, then a few days later it happened again, and I did the 'force stop' then reopened it and that worked.
No I haven't tried clearing the cache, but I'll try that too.
but here are some screen shots from before when it wasn't working.
The Motion Alerts would not stay on, it would either be light blue and when I'd click out of the screen, turn off.
When I'd try to access Motion Settings, it would spin, both when trying to access via the 3 dots on the icon or from the main camera page.
The wi-fi connection was good.
The 'MODE' icon was missing from the Dashboard screen and 'MOTION ALERTS" would spin

CHi @user_d52a28. Are you leaving the Ring app open and running in the background all the time? Or do you close out of the app each time you're done using it?

Caitlyn_Ring I don't see a 'reply' to your comment so I can't reply under your post.
Hum, I think it is running in the background I get out of the screen, but if I flip through screens I've opened, it will be there.
Though sometimes I 'close all'.

CThat's okay, thank you for confirming. Try fully closing out of the Ring app each time you're done using it, and see if that resolves these performance issues moving forward.

Caitlyn, do you mean Xing out of it? Of all screens?
At the moment it is working OK, I will make sure the next time it happens I will X out of all screens.
Thanks for taking time to answer.
I also wanted to put this here for others if they are having the same issues as it was just so odd.
Thanks again Tom and Caitlyn.

Hi @user_d52a28. What specific model is this and what version of the Ring app is installed? Can you possibly share some screenshots to illustrate what is happening? Have you tried clearing the cache for your device?
