Change to Event History viewing (iOS)
event-history
event-history-timeline

After a recent update o version 5.91.0, I am seeing a change in the way Event History works. When I tap on an event on the Event History page, then use the back or next button on the video view, it only shows events for the device I tapped on instead of the next item on the timeline (if it is another device).  Is anyone else seeing this?

THIS CHANGE MAKES THE TIMELINE VIRTUALLY USELESS!! Is there a way to put it back the way it was?????

Hi there, Neighbors. This is correct. This is an updated way of viewing your History. This allows you to easily access your Event History Timeline. I understand how change has a bit of an adjustment period and I appreciate your transparency with this. Can I ask for your feedback about what you valued most in the History before this update? Thank you.

The ability to view a chronological timeline of events from four devices was much more useful than having to work through each device separately and cross-check time stamps. This update isn’t user-friendly for those of us with more than one device.

This is not change for the good and is not right for us who pay for your service.

GO back to the decision makers and put it back like it was.

I have the same miserable experience now. If you want to see what an event history looks like from the different cameras that caught it, you literally have to go one camera at a time and find the exact same time stamp and view it that way. Way too time consuming and disrupts the continuity of events, regardless of camera that caught it.

Yep and not only that but

but a a serious issue that occurred after the most recent Ring app/device update is a security concern. The update automatically reverted all of my settings back to factory defaults without my permission, including turning off Priority Alerts.

Because of this, I was not receiving any alerts when people came near my property, which created a significant security risk. I rely on these notifications for my safety, especially as I work from home and have had multiple suspicious incidents in my area recently.

Hi team, Since the recent Ring app update, the Event History view has changed in a way that’s making it extremely difficult to monitor all of my cameras properly. Previously, I could open the Event History and see all cameras’ events in one clean chronological list. This was fast, efficient, and allowed me to catch everything happening around my property. Now, when I tap any event in the list, it automatically jumps me into the individual camera’s Live View timeline, instead of simply playing the recording. Because of this: ❗ I am now missing important events Once I get forced into a single camera’s timeline, I lose the overview of what happened on my other cameras, and several events have gone unnoticed because of this. This creates safety and security issues A home security system needs to make it easier, not harder, to see all activity quickly. The forced camera-specific timeline breaks the chronological flow of events, slows down review time, and makes it harder to spot motion or suspicious behaviour across multiple angles.  The change is inefficient and confusing Instead of a simple play-and-review experience, I now have to: back out of timelinesreopen the historyscroll againtry to find where I left offrepeatThis is extremely frustrating and time-consuming. What we need Please restore or provide a toggle for the old behaviour: Tap an event → play the recording directlyKeep the multi-camera chronological list view as the primary way to review eventsMake the single-camera timeline optional This change would restore usability and prevent missed events, which is critical for people relying on Ring for security. Thank you,  hoping this gets passed to the product team as a priority. Yeah this update was a dud. Please revert event history back to the intuitive way it used to be! With multiple devices, being forced to use the timeline view is just unworkable. Been a subscriber for over 8 years and brought several family members into the Ring ecosystem, but this new update is terrible and has me thinking about a change in security provider. A “timeline” isn’t really a full timeline when any event from any other devices is skipped over! The video viewer is also super small, and it takes too many steps to manage an event (Star, favorite, etc). And by the time you can decide how to manage one event, it starts auto playing the next one! So frustrating!

Agree the updated timeline is horrible with multiple cameras. Unable to review in order of events as apposed to by each camera makes it unbearable.
