Placing contact sensors without space to open them
contact-sensor

Several casement windows in my home are recessed such that there isn’t the necessary 1/2” space on either wall or window frame to slide open the sensor. I’ve considered attaching them to the screen but that is certainly not ideal.

Is there a solution for this through Ring? Does anyone in the same predicament have a successful workaround?

This would not be a problem if Ring offered sensors that open in more than one direction inc. along the frame instead of only perpendicular to it. (i.e., Left-Right and Up-Down)

Hi @user_33646c. Can you share an image oh the proposed Contact Sensor location? This will give allow us to give you the best advice. We do have a Slim Magnet that might assist with your placement options.

I saw the slim magnet, but the issue is with the sensor. The inside frame of the window itself has the same issue so switching magnet and sensor doesn’t help.

Hi @user_33646c. We also have this Help Center page with tips on installing Contacts Sensors on different types of windows.

Unfortunately, the Ring page about mounting on different windows and doors is about how to keep sensor and magnet close enough to work; it doesn't deal with the problem of not enough space to open the sensor cover.
