Extend Mailbox Sensor Range
I am trying to extend the range of the Mailbox Sensor so it reaches further into the house to reach my Alarm Pro Base Station. https://ring.com/products/ring-mailbox-sensor Reading over the Mailbox Sensor page, box, book, and other posts there isn't an explicit mention of what the Mailbox Sensor connects to officially. The only mention of connectivity is this: "Mailbox Sensor connects with Amazon Sidewalk out of the box. You do not need a hub device like Ring Bridge or Alarm Pro Base Station (sold separately) if your Mailbox Sensor is using Amazon Sidewalk to connect." There is then one relevant FAQ item: "What if I don't have Amazon Sidewalk coverage in my area? You can use compatible hubs including Ring Bridge, Alarm Pro Base Station, Echo (4th Generation), Echo Show 10 (3rd Generation). Sold separately. One Ring Bridge supported per household." From these two descriptions we learn it can talk to Amazon Sidewalk but isn't required and can talk to the Ring Bridge or Alarm Pro Base Station and that's about it from what I could find for explicit mention of communication. On the Ring Bridge page it says: https://ring.com/products/smart-lighting-bridge "Connects to Ring Smart Lighting compatible devices 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi Connection @ 2.4GHz" So the Ring Bridge has some "way" of connecting to Ring Smart Lighting, as well as Wi-Fi. Alarm Pro Base Station says: https://ring.com/products/alarm-pro-base-station "Ethernet, Bluetooth for set-up, Z-wave, WiFi, WiFi-6 capable, LTE, 902- 928 MHz Radio" So Bluetooth, Z-wave, WiFi, LTE, and possibly some radio signal if that's not used for the other 4 options is what this Base Station can serve. Since the Ring Bridge has fewer options that means the Ring Mailbox Sensor either connects through the magic "Lighting compatible" way or simply Wi-Fi. Based on other websites outside of Ring the Mailbox Sensor seems to primarily talk through "bridge" (the lighting compatible way) which is a separate thing from Amazon Sidewalk and Wi-Fi, according to the internet. I'm writing this to help myself but also help others trying to use or are interested in buying this Mailbox Sensor to get a concrete answer as to how this item communicates and if there is any reasonable way to extend the range to a mailbox that isn't basically in line of sight to something like the Alarm Pro Base Station. If there is, great, if there isn't then hopefully users can look at alternative sensors with more logical communication methods before wasting their money. I already bought mine and am well out of return range with it being out of the box, attached, used, and all, so I can only go upwards if there's good news. It worked consistently then I noticed it missing some detections with it going offline as well so it's on the edge of signal strength. What type of other products can help extend the reach of the Mailbox Sensor to a hub (Alarm Pro Base Station, Echo, Ring Bridge)? Let us say the owner's nearest neighbor is a mile away so none of their items will help them through Amazon Sidewalk. What can a homeowner do to help push the signal from their hub through their home, through their exterior wall, and out in the direction of the mailbox if they are already using the Mailbox Sensor Antenna? Are there any real options if the Ring Bridge is discontinued? Are there other products such as the compatible lights where signals can propagate device to device to hop to the hub? If there are devices that let the signal hop, are there any reasonable ones to put inside a user's home so they don't have something like a battery powered outdoor light sitting on a shelf just to get the signal through? Many thanks to all who contribute answers and ideas.
