troubleshooting

Being ‘hardwired’ it should always have power and the health status in the app said the battery was at 100%.  I troubleshot the connection with no luck.  My WIFI network had not changed and my other three Ring cameras were working fine.  I plugged the doorbell in but got no light indicating it was charging or alive or anything.  I consulted Ring troubleshooting and even talked to AI and tried everything that was suggested including a hard reset to no avail.  No lights or anything to indicate it was doing anything, it was totally dead.  The doorbell sat for about two weeks unpowered while I ordered a new one.  I wanted to check everything again to be sure I wasn’t throwing away a good doorbell so I tried a hard reset again.  This time I actually got some lights.  It made a sound and I got the blue ring flashing.  Soon after just the top section of the blue ring was flashing.  It was actually online for a while (so said the app) but when I tried to bring up the live feed it said it was offline.  Then the ring turned white and is spinning around.  In health status it now said that the battery was at just 2%.  I tried disconnecting the power cord and plugging the usb power cable in.  The white lights continue to chase around the circle and after about 30 minutes it’s still at 2%.  Did the built in battery die?  If so, can the battery be replaced?

Hi @user_8fbbd1. While you can connect a battery powered Ring doorbell to existing doorbell wiring to trickle charge the battery, the doorbell still draws power from the battery, not the wiring directly. Attempting to charge the battery and reset the doorbell by holding down the setup button for 20 seconds are good troubleshooting steps to try. If you are unable to set the doorbell back up in the Ring app after resetting it, please reach out to our support team to see what options are available. You can get in touch @Ring on Facebook, X, or Instagram.
