My new device goes offline when it gets too cold.

I live in MICHIGAN. It gets cold here in the winter. The customer service rep said it happens to a lot of people, not just me. It’s clearly a known issue that they have no solution for.

I replaced my old device after several years, I NEVER had an issue with it going offline when it got too cold. They no longer offer that model. The design that replaced it 1) has to be completely removed from the wall when it requires charging and 2) requires a special tool to remove it from the wall.

Who thought that was a good idea????  I have enough crap to keep track of, I don’t need to keep track of a tool that’s half the size of my pinkie finger.

This is a TERRIBLE design. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Hi @user_ccd3fb. Freezing temperatures can negatively impact the performance of the batteries used in Ring devices. We have more information on Ring devices and extreme temperatures here. Since you live somewhere that gets very cold in the winter, you may consider looking into a wired doorbell.

Mine is wired in and I have the same problems in Colorado. I may have to look at another company if this continues because I cannot just take it off the wall and bring it inside easily. I have also had a prior product and never had these kinds of issues before.
