Resetting My Ring Cameras From The Ground
wireless-security-cameras

For the most part, my Battery Ring cameras work perfectly. They charge well and stay online. However we all know there are those times when suddenly one or two cameras will drop offline, or stop charging. I washed my solar panels with solar panel cleaner a few months ago and those that stopped charging started working again. I’ve only had to replace two. For the offline problem, I have a new and stronger router, the Ring Chime and two extenders in different rooms. Sometimes if left alone, the affected camera(s) comes back online by itself. Those that don’t are a real problem. I have bad knees and I can’t crawl up a ladder to reset them. I always have to call for someone to help me. I suggested Ring should have an extendable rod that can be used to reach high cameras and press the button. Nothing came of that. Not that I expected it to.

I came up with my own solution for my one story house. I bought a 36" Stainless Steel Rectangular Bar, a 2"x2"x2" Stainless Steel Angle Bracket a golf tee and Super Glue. I glued one side of the bracket to the top of the rectangular bar, cut off the pointed tip of the golf tee and glued it to the center of the angle bracket pointing down. It works. I was able to reset the camera that was offline. Tonight I reset three cameras in less than ten minutes. Most of my cameras are the first generation, so I could bypass the QR and barcode. I’ve started saving a copy of my QR and barcodes in my computer. If I need to scan codes for the newer cameras, I will print and scan the code from a sheet of paper. People with cameras set higher than mine will need to improve on my idea to suit their needs, but maybe something like this could help?
