U
Law enforcement service feature idea

Ring app feature addon

Law enforcement add on.

Add a subscription service for police departments that allows the police to designate specific streets in an area, and a time window that they're seeking camera footage for.

make a portion "allow law enforcement related requests for my area" then the customer inputs their current address, and when law enforcement has requests for footage they'll get the alert if they don't agree to allow requests from law enforcement that's fine it doesn't show them, but if they do allow it knock off a portion of their monthly or yearly fee.

It doesn't automatically send the police the footage, it sends the customer a notification saying law enforcement in ur area are seeking footage for this area n show the affected area and the time window do u wish to 1) review your footage for potential submissions, 2) automatically allow ring to send ur footage for that time period or 3) not at this time.

If person picks 1 they can look over their footage n mark anything they think is of interest in their clips select them n click submit, and then on your end the highlighted clips are allowed to be shared to police over the cloud.

U can pitch it to police departments as how many man hours, car milage, gas, time spent vs answering other calls does each incident where looking for ring cameras, waiting for ppl to be home etc require in hopes of finding evidence, how much do all those factors add up too n then your law enforcement fee u can is X amount cheaper, and will give an alert or request to anyone who agreed to sign up in those areas notifying them n allowing them to do it remotely from wherever without having to actually interact with police if nothing comes from it.

And then all the video is sorted by house on a Google maps type street layout showing house A has 5 videos of interest house C has 10 house E has the entire time of interest etc etc n they can click each house on the map with video that's submitted so they can work from closest to furthest type thing.

U charge law enforcement a fee they never get automatic access it's down to each customers decision but if they agreed to be at least presented with the request which makes their camera not available but atleast noted down on that map for police saying house G has a camera but has not submitted anything. So they can then go knock n talk.

And the customer in return saves a couple $ a year off their fee.

If they always refuse all requests received over a 3 month period if any come in then they'll be removed from program n not receive the discount

If y'all use the idea hook a brother up with a free ring camera lol or some $
