Feature Request: Separate Ringtone for Intercom / Doorbell Calls in Ring App
Hello Ring Team,I’m a long-time user of Ring and I appreciate the continuous updates and improvements you make. However, I’d like to suggest a feature that I believe would greatly improve the user experience on Android:Request: Please add an option to set a distinct ringtone specifically for calls from the intercom / doorbell, separate from the ringtone used for regular phone calls. Why this would help:When a visitor rings via the intercom, I want to immediately recognize it without mistaking it for a phone call.Having different tones helps reduce missed intercom calls and confusion, especially when the phone is in another room.It improves usability and clarity, especially in homes where multiple Ring devices are used (doorbell, indoor intercom, etc.).Current limitation:At the moment, Ring intercom calls inherit the standard call ringtone from Android with no separate notification channel or tone. The “incoming call” channel for Ring does not expose a customizable ringtone in settings, only an on/off toggle.Suggested implementation:Add a setting in the Ring App under Notifications → Intercom / Doorbell Calls (or “Incoming Intercom Calls”) to choose a ringtone.Alternatively, introduce a new notification channel for intercom/doorbell calls distinct from the phone’s standard call channel.Ensure this option works reliably across Samsung & other Android versions where current versions override custom channel settings.Impact:Many users (myself included) would benefit from this, especially in busy households or large homes. It could reduce missed visitors and improve the perception of reliability and customization of the Ring system.Thank you for considering this feature. I’d be very happy to see this added in a future release!Best regards,Marco (Android / Galaxy S22 user)
