New Ring ownership

I've recently moved into a house with a Ring doorbell (Gen1). How can I take ownership of the doorbell? To my knowledge, the previous owner released ownership before I moved in. I do not have a tool/key to remove the doorbell from the wall so I can't determine the info requested by the Ring app. I'm sure others must have encountered this. Any suggestions?
