What is the typical lifespan of a device. The video quality on mine has gone down significantly lately and I’m noticing more and more it’s missing items it should have caught.

Ring Doorbells and Security Cameras are designed to last many years. Different factors can impact this, including the climate and weather conditions your Ring device is installed in. With battery powered devices, the battery may not work as well after years of use.

If you're experiencing performance issues with your Ring device, you can find troubleshooting guidance here on the Community, and in our Help Center. For more in-depth assistance, you can also get in touch with our social support team @Ring on Facebook, X, or Instagram.

@mjjmpeters Usually the battery will be what goes first. People are used to traditional doorbells lasting decades but devices like Ring have a life span. Its not a knock on them its just all electronic devices will need replaced eventually. Around 3 or 4 years I would accept as by then a much better model will likely be out anyway. A lot depends on the climate where you live and what conditions the doorbell has been exposed to. Think about how often you upgrade your phone. Same thing really.

I just came here to see what other users have experienced. I just had to replaced my very first ring doorbell. Original was bought in 2019. It's been dead since Dec though, middle of freezing winter. It stopped detecting motion and recording, then finally completely stopped working. Lasted about 5.5 years. I guess I should expect my other ring devices to be dying soon too.

My wired doorbell quit today after 3 and a half years. Troubleshooting all day did nothing. Other cameras are still working.  No idea what the issue could be.
