Ring Spotlight Cam plug in vs hardwired

Is there a performance or feature difference between a Spotlight Cam Plus that is plugged in vs one that is hardwired? When you add the camera, the setup asks if it is powered by an electrical socket, battery or hardwired. I understand that battery powered is very different. But why ask for both plug-in and hardwired? Are they just over-simplifying the process for less sophisticated users or is there a functional difference? If there is a difference, what is it?

Hi @uscpsycho. There is no difference between the Spotlight Cam Plus Wired and Plug-In besides how they are installed.

Hi @user_3955fa. The Spotlight Cam Plus Wired includes the Hardwired Kit, which is why there is a difference in price. The Hardwired Kit is needed to hardwire the camera on a junction box. There are otherwise no differences between the Spotlight Cam Plus Wired and Spotlight Cam Plus Plug-In.
